TVET – Leave No One Behind

Bringing Rights To LIfe

As part of HRAC’s unwavering commitment to the “Leave No One Behind” agenda under the Sustainable Development Goals, the TVET Project stands as a beacon of hope for marginalized groups. This initiative seeks to empower them with vocational skills that enhance their economic independence and resilience. By addressing the economic hardships exacerbated by stigmatization, HRAC ensures that no individual is left behind in the journey toward equality and economic empowerment.

At the heart of the BRASA Project lies the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) component, a program designed to provide participants with practical skills and tools to start their own trades. In 2023, HRAC successfully mobilized 45 participants for two tailored training modules: ICT and Painting and Decoration.

To support the ICT module, HRAC procured 25 laptops, a proactive measure to hedge against inflation during challenging economic times. This commitment underscores HRAC’s resolve to create a robust foundation for participants to thrive in their respective fields.

Collaboration with the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) has been instrumental in delivering these programs. With training commencing in June 2023, HRAC curated customized curricula for the modules, with input from two NVTI experts. These experts refined standard training materials to suit the unique needs of the participants. Four master craftsmen were selected to facilitate the courses, ensuring a secure and personalized learning environment. Upon completion of the six-month training, participants will undergo external assessments and receive a National Proficiency II Certificate, marking a significant milestone in their vocational journey.
Monitoring and evaluation remain integral to the project’s success. NVTI headquarters and the headmaster of the pilot training institute are responsible for oversight, attendance tracking, and reporting. HRAC also introduced pre- and post-evaluation tools to measure the program’s impact.

As the participants progress through the program, HRAC’s dedication to their success is unwavering. By December 2023, all 45 participants are expected to complete their training, equipped not only with skills but also with starter kits to launch their careers. The BRASA Project exemplifies HRAC’s mission to uplift marginalized communities, demonstrating that through education, empowerment, and advocacy, transformative change is achievable.
